Shotbuckets!

Sh*tbucket! It was that time again! Time for my darling girl's tender flesh to be pierced and pillaged by the savage point of an angry needle! Ugh. I was 3 weeks late for her 3 month vaccinations so we went on Monday. I buttered her up with playgroup first and then when she least expected it, I brought her upstairs to the injection room. Doom-da-doom-doom. Am I the only one who feels like I am bringing my kid to slaughter when shot time comes around? The only thing that made my guilt ridden mind feel better was seeing that they had the Eloise book (of course, we did not read it. Germs, you know.) for which Weezy was named after on the book shelf in the waiting room. This is not a super common book so seeing it, I deemed a good omen and I did not wimp out and run kicking and screaming back to the car.

When the nurse called her name, we bravely moved forward. I lay the Weez down on the table and the nurse prepared the needles. My eyes got huge when I saw how long the silver beast was and I querulously asked, "How does it not hit bone?" The nurse looked at me, then looked at Weezy's luscious thighs, then looked at me again and said, "Are you kidding?" Then she ruthlessly stabbed my baby deep into the muscle. I clutched the Weez to my chest and very imperiously said, "Just what are you implying?" Before she answered, she stabbed the other thigh. Both thighs! Agh! Then she looked at me and smirked, "Your kid's got thunder thighs."

Whhhhheeeeellll! I never! I gathered my delicate Weezy up and huffed out of the office, so caught up in this caustic exchange, that I did not even realize until later that my little lady never even shed a tear! She is such a brave girl! Maybe, knowing this, I will not put off her 4 months shots until they are almost a month late. Mmmm. I probably will.
Here Eloise is sleeping off the copious amount of Baby Tylenol my guilty conscience has jammed down her throat:

Weezy Wednesday: Let the Festivities Begin!

I knew I wanted to marry Brakes long before I met his extended family: he is gorgeous, smart, and he thinks I am the beez-neez so why wouldn't I want to marry him? But let me tell you, if I had been on the fence the first time I went to his family reunion, would have sealed the deal for me!

Brakes' family is fantastic! They are a huge, wild group of loving, gregarious folks and they throw an amazing days-long party every summer at this magical place called, "The River House," in southern Maryland. The River House really is a magical place; it is so relaxing, accepting, and fun. When I am there each summer, I feel like I can finally exhale and begin to settle into my true self. I laugh harder, sleep better, and even food tastes better at the River House. (MMmmm, crab.)

This year Brakes and I were really excited to introduce Eloise to her extended family and initiate her into world of Propinquity. Judging by the way she handled the inaugural weekend cannon blast (yes, that is right, the reunion begins with cannon fire)- Eloise will fit right in.

Let the festivities begin!

We're Back!

Hi friends! We are back from our travels! We had a marvelous time but it is nice to be back in our cozy home! I'll fill you in on our adventures in Maryland at Brake's family reunion (lots of stories to tell there!) and our explorations of gorgeous Hawley Lake in Arizona when I have my pictures organized. I am pleased to report that Eloise got nary a bug bite and not even a light tan on her unmarred complexion... and we did not have to use bug spray or sunscreen. Also she appears to have learned how to take a nap which bodes well for my postings schedule. We are getting back into the swing of things and I have some exciting posts planned (I have plenty to say after such a long hiatus) so be sure to check back soon! Until then feast your eyes on this gorgeous girl:

Design Dilema Solved!

At long last I've solved a design dilemma that has kept me up at night (or maybe that was the screaming baby).

Let me backtrack: a girlhood friend from AZ, Kelli, is a gifted seamstress and one of the most generous and thoughtful humans I know. Upon hearing the design scheme for Weezy's nursery she offered to make me a fabric diaper caddy which I gratefully accepted. A few weeks later an adorable, custom pocket holder in fabulous toile and red fabric, arrived in the mail!

I knew instantly it was too precious to hold diapers and wipes. I tried hanging it in Weezy's bathroom with fancy rolled guest towels (because Weezy gets a lot of fancy guests). But nobody could see it in there, so I tried hanging it on the back of her door holding her various coats and accessories (you know a woman such as the Weez has many, many accessories). But alas it wasn't viewed enough there either! Finally after several sleepless nights and several dozen nail holes in the wall (ssshhhh... don't tell the landlords), I found the perfect solution: I hung it on a hanger and put it over the folding door to her bathroom, and I filled it with...

Books! It makes the most perfect little book holder! I love that it holds all of our fave books and that they are facing front
on, which is more developmentally appropriate for the little Weez. It also balances out her tall clothes holder on the opposite wall and it gives her something interesting to look at when we sit in her chair and nurse. It completely changed the dynamic of the room and I am really tickled by the way it turned out. I also love that the lady who so lovingly crafted the piece is an avid reader and a budding novelist! Thank you again Kelli! It was just the finishing touch that Weezy's nursery needed and we will think of you whenever we read stories in Weezy's new and improved cozy little reading nook!

Weezy Wednesday

I am all about videos now that I am a You Tube genius! I am going to try to post a video of the Weez every Wednesday for your viewing pleasure!

We got her first belly-laughs on camera this week!
