At long last I've solved a design dilemma that has kept me up at night (or maybe that was the screaming baby).
Let me backtrack: a girlhood friend from AZ, Kelli, is a gifted seamstress and one of the most generous and thoughtful humans I know. Upon hearing the design scheme for Weezy's nursery she offered to make me a fabric diaper caddy which I gratefully accepted. A few weeks later an adorable, custom pocket holder in fabulous toile and red fabric, arrived in the mail!
I knew instantly it was too precious to hold diapers and wipes. I tried hanging it in Weezy's bathroom with fancy rolled guest towels (because Weezy gets a lot of fancy guests). But nobody could see it in there, so I tried hanging it on the back of her door holding her various coats and accessories (you know a woman such as the Weez has many, many accessories). But alas it wasn't viewed enough there either! Finally after several sleepless nights and several dozen nail holes in the wall (ssshhhh... don't tell the landlords), I found the perfect solution: I hung it on a hanger and put it over the folding door to her bathroom, and I filled it with...
Books! It makes the most perfect little book holder! I love that it holds all of our fave books and that they are facing front
on, which is more developmentally appropriate for the little Weez. It also balances out her tall clothes holder on the opposite wall and it gives her something interesting to look at when we sit in her chair and nurse. It completely changed the dynamic of the room and I am really tickled by the way it turned out. I also love that the lady who so lovingly crafted the piece is an avid reader and a budding novelist! Thank you again Kelli! It was just the finishing touch that Weezy's nursery needed and we will think of you whenever we read stories in Weezy's new and improved cozy little reading nook!
We are a pair of perfectly matched opposites living with our daughters, Eloise and Olive, in Northern California. Gas is a special education teacher and Brakes is a scientist. We dabble in wine, decor, and renovation... often at the same time!
